Tangram Grid - Area & Fractions

This activity can be used as an extension of another freebie, but it can also be used as an independent lesson.

It contains a worksheet with a tangram puzzle on a grid. First students have to find the area of each puzzle piece by counting the number of squares. Then they have to find the fractional representation of the puzzle pieces. Also included is an answer key.

Coordinate Graphing - Halloween

The activities require students to use the grid code / coloring directions and crayons or markers to create various images on a 19x19 grid. I have used letters on the horizontal axis and numbers on the vertical axis to introduce young students to coordinate pairs without the confusion of the standard (h,v) format.

Valentine's Day - Heart Tangram Patterns

Happy Valentine's Day! These are two step by step drawing lessons on how to construct a heart shaped tangram and unique patterns.

First students have to construct a heart shaped tangram. Then they cut the puzzle pieces apart, rearrange them and construct their own unique tangram pattern.

After the students are finished, they can swap their own unique tangram pattern with other students and try to solve each other’s pattern.

At the Circus - Tangram Patterns & Coördinate Graphing

Coördinatenstelsel / Assenstelsel  
 

Met behulp van kleurpotloden of stiften en een kleurcode maken de leerlingen een tekening op een raster van 19x19 vakjes. Op de horizontale as heb ik letters gebruikt en op de verticale as nummers : (A,5).  Voor leerlingen die voor het eerst werken met een cartesisch coördinatenstelsel is dit minder verwarrend als de gebruikelijke notatie van het coördinatenpaar : (1,5).

Afbeeldingen: 6 - Tent, Goochelaar, Konijn, Leeuw, Leeuwenkop en Jonglerend meisje.

Niveaus: 5 - Oplopend in moeilijkheidsgraad van kleuren op nummer tot een afbeelding die volledig is opgebouwd uit coördinaten.

De titel van de werkbladen is in het Engels. De opdrachten zelf zijn niet taalgebonden.
